Ma’am Sadorra was “okay” naman (at least for me) but defo the subj was one of the hardest that i took cause she was the prof HWLDHWKDHAODH 😭 anyway here: Pros: 1.) You’ll learn a lot because she’ll give comments about your paper and will give u time to revise it before the final submission 2.) Values your opinion (the past reviews bout her said na she will destroy ur mental health AND WE WERE SO SCARED WHEN WE HEARD IT BEFORE, but she changed naman cause she didn’t criticize our works or our knowledge bout writing) 3. Very considerate. She’ll really give us ample time to finish a paper and she always moves the deadline nga eh as long as it was communicated to her well Cons: 1.) If u care about your QPI, she’s not the ideal prof. She gives C to some cause she has a very HIGH STANDARDS sa paper mo. She was a professor from a well-known univ in Singapore before and had a lot of experiences so… yea 2.) She’ll give LOTS of small group works and presentation (that’s why we’re anxious sa class niya lagi) 3.) Very strict with the journals and citations. 4.) She doesn’t give clear instructions and it’s always vague tbh. 5.) She’ll comment revisions sa works mo and when you pass it, THERE’S MORE pa and she didnt mention that in the first place. Even if you revise it, IT’S STILL WRONG FOR HER 🥹 Not recommending but C+ to B-able with minimal effort and A-able kung isasacrifice mo tulog mo 😁😁😁more

hello! i took her this past semester, I would say she's A-able with effort :) tho i think most get B-B+ she's very organized and more or less followed her syllabus (assessments, grading) to a T. she made schedules for working on the 2 major essay+presentation requirements and adjusted them pretty quickly when suspensions/other delays happened. she's also pretty considerate in general, like if most of the class needs to shift to online, she's willing to naman. she might seem intimidating cuz she's very blunt and very particular with formatting/citations/word choice, but i found her comments reasonable. just make sure to read the instructions well and you'll be good (all posted on canvas and she's very open to clarifications and questions) tips are to consult, make sure to ask all the questions you need to ask in ur assigned consult time bc it helps a lot, and to read the instructions + listen to her in class bc she kind of tells u straigjt up what she wants in ur output. she also strongly dislikes if u add fluff to ur writing, so keep it concise and to-the-point. plus be conscious of citations and such cuz it affects ur grade. she has a syllabus test (was very considerate with our class, let us retake it twice maximum if needed) and she does a lot of mini grpworks so try to get at least decent groupmates. overall very manageable and i enjoyed her class! kaya yan opmore

I had her first sem of freshie year (this was last year) and I think I enjoyed my time in her class so much that I look for her in every prof that I get each sem 😅 HAHAHAHA I do agree that she can be intimidating the first few weeks of class + coupled with the reviews you'll find here, but she's actually super motherly and genuine once you get to know her! she'll definitely help you improve as long as you put the effort in. she gave really helpful comments on my essays (as far as I rmr we had two? the first being a personal reflection and the second being a proposal essay.) I remember struggling a bit with writing my conclu sa PREF but she was really patient with every draft I had her look over. my PREF was also quite personal and she was really sweet about it and even offered me some personal encouragement! she said herself that she prefers teaching freshies because it's more understandable when they make mistakes so I wouldn't be too intimidated, OP! definitely A-able with the right effort, and you'll learn a thing or two that might help you down the line imo :>>more

hello! definitely agree with everything that the previous op said as it all happened rin sa class namin. i got an A in her class and despite not being that fully confident in my writing skills, i made sure to always put in the effort with the requirements and consult with her always! ma’am sadorra is very sweet and i love her so much! definitely inspired me during my freshie yr and showed me that i have what it takes to write (and even write good). just make sure to do your work dilligently and never haphazardly finish her requirements. lalo’t na sa mga essays, you really should take the time to make it kasi mahahalata niya if you just rushed through it. goodluck op!more

hiiii and I are blockmates, and I totally agree with everything she said, especially sa 4th point. Getting a high grade with her is all about asking for clarifications since her instructions can be a bit vague huhuh. Plus, consulting with her on Zoom always helps she appreciates it when you seek help legit frfr she even helped me arrange my thesis statement sa isang paper andjxjsh. Keep ur essays as succinct as possible and make them complex but at the same time not all over the place hedushsh ewan gl frfr!!! </33more

hi! I took her last year and I agree with the other post that she’s A-able with effort, but yeah most get a B to B+ Pls dont get a bad impression of her right away given her old reviews here Youll probably be intimidated by her at the start BUT shes a kind prof who is REALLY willing to help you improve and shes actually approachable naman iirc we had a lot of consultation opportunities for our papers (we had 2 major papers) and the workload is very manageable Shes also open to deadline extensions if you ask but I think that wont be necessary tbh since she really gives a lot of time to do major tasksmore

Hi I took her class last year (so mej recent naman ito) and I understand where you’re coming from😭😭 it took a few weeks for me to get used to her because she was sooo intimidating but honestly she isn’t that bad Make sure you listen in class and show that you’re willing to learn and participate (even if you dont recite, at least show that you’re being attentive) Over the semester, she became less intimidating naman and I would even say she was motherly to us because she’s very ready to address your concerns (esp with essays) and answer your questions (she was willing to stay after class so that everyone can have their questions answered) I also think she appreciates it if you’re willing to learn and ask questions because she really warmed up to us when we started approaching her after class or asking for consultations. Just do your best and apply her comments!! She’s very patient and approachable naman so dont be afraid to keep asking questions:))more

Hey! I took Dr. Sadorra last semester for ENGL 11 as well. I felt exactly the same way during the first few weeks, I was really intimidated by her. But over time, I learned to appreciate her teaching style and eventually grew to like her class. We only had two major requirements (PREF and PROP), but they were quite heavy. 😭 Still, her consultations were super helpful. Every consult honestly felt like a bonding experience. That said, to get the most out of it, make sure you really know your research materials, because if not, she will start bombarding you with questions and might even end up debating with you (speaking from experience 😭). But in the end, I realized she was just pushing me to do better. Whenever I was about to submit an output, I could clearly see the difference in quality between my original work and the version where I applied her comments. If you want to survive (and even do well), my biggest advice is to always come to class prepared. She sometimes calls on students for recitation or asks you to present in front with no script in hand (with prior notice naman). Be attentive during lectures too as there will be lots of group discussions on videos, articles, and readings. I never thought I’d say this, but she’s one of the best professors I’ve had. I honestly thought I’d end up with a C/C+, but I finished with a B+. You’ve got this, good luck!more

i had her a few years ago (iirc she had just returned to teaching in admu when i had her for engl 11) and she really was quite scary at first. but eventually it became clear she never means to actually scare you! i remember my friends used to haaateee her because she would call them out and interrupt them while they were presenting something, but in the middle of the sem (after the optional mid-sem prof evals) she told us she read them and apologized for all that. she's not like other terror profs who purposely like acting that way. that said, as long as you show effort like participate in class discussions or ask for consultation with your work (i did this once because she didn't leave any comments, but she was joking almost the whole time so it was all good haha), then you should be ok :)more

I was a beadle for Dr. Sadorra along with another classmate last sem, and I’d say that the experience had its ups and downs! On one hand, there were multiple writing activities done in class and two major requirements that contributed to our final grade. She loves group discussions and recitations during her sessions as well, which explains why our classroom always had this anxious atmosphere whenever we’d be in her class LOLL But on the other hand, you really do learn a lot from her. She’s open to consultations which significantly enhance the quality of your outputs! She gives off the vibes of a stern yet warm mother (we even used to refer to her as “mom” at times). Her way of teaching shows how much she cares for her students, as well as her passion for the course itself. I love and miss our Dr. Sadorra already 😢more

Hellooo! Had Maam Sadorra as my prof din for the same sub. I know she looks stern and scary pero she is actually a warm person and she really does care and is concerned about your performance. Basing from my exp, maam really does give time for everyone to consult their essays with her individually onsite and online if you need to so that she has an idea of what you are going for and can recommend some changes that will improve your paperrr. So try to really make sulit the time you have with her Maam will crack some jokes at some point and throw shade at some politicians 😅 which is kinda fun. If u think she's out to get you, she's not. She wants to bring out the best in you talaga. She grades fairly and the woman does have the experience and knowledge to guide you thru the sem. Hope this helpssmore

Took her class last semester, if you wanna pass, stay on her good side, don’t miss class and take note of corrections she has you make on any activities or papers, she has a scary aura but she’s actually nice, just don’t abuse her niceness and leniency. Make sure to pass stuff on time, altho she ends up giving extensions on certain submissions, the deductions per assignment may affect ur final grade if you repeat late submissions. Lastly treat her with respect as she does to you, if you find her class boring, the least you can do is not show your disinterest, just sit and listen.more
