One of the few profs I willingly re-enlisted because I had a marvelous time with him for my PHILO 12 class. Copy-paste what was said na sa taas, but to add a little, he's the most understanding prof I ever met sa ADMU. Florence's comments are so on point!! Sir Roy literally laid out the calendar of the sem for the benefit of the graduating seniors. He also *voluntarily* adjusts modality (makes class async, not Zoom) if there are sudden class suspensions/cancellations/concerns like transpo strike and heat index. Add ko na lang, he checks attendance din, so watch that. He's been in ADMU for so long, so watch him teach Ignatian education—the best. A tip for the (2) LTs and he said this himself, while length is not a measure of a quality reflection, it's a good indication of how much you understood the topic. That being said, jibber-jabber on your LTs please—both on the personal and the lessons of the reading(s). You only have two (handwritten haha) LTs, might as well channel your narratives and learnings coz there's no much opportunities to fix your grade (if you are grade conscious). The vid recording requirement is graded so soo generously (ykwim)—as if the other requirements are not graded generously enough. Ngl, he's not the most life-changing—something DLQ gives, allegedly (haha). But for me, I needed that chill DLQ class to survive graduating year (moreso shortsem), which is why I chose him (again). He will not attempt to change you, he will share his lessons/discussion points, but his wisdom will/might elicit you to find yourself in the topics and change your view in life accordingly. updates: bro im ngl i enjoyed philo 12 how he teaches - agree sa monotone but i enjoyed listening kasi he often uses flowery words (so masaya pakinggan) pero he gets to the point immediately. Like he will spend his time breaking everything down to the point that it gets redundant, pero by then, gets mo na talaga - hands down the most organized prof i've ever had. Bro had calendar dates per lesson and i had the canvas calendar linked to my calendar so updated ako ano lesson. and like wowwwww... wala yun lang. how he grades - all in all, he has four assessments in total, 2 written and 2 oral exams. One of each per half of the semester. - i'm ngl, idt he grades low? I just think he looks for something specific which is your own take of the lesson. Your insights are valued more I reckon, than being able to just... list down what he taught. - admittedly, ang baba ko sa first half kasi di ko pa alam yung hinahanap niya, pero nung nakuha ko na kiliti niya, I got A's brother. And by then, I really enjoyed Philo na kasi nga naintegrate ko na sa buhay ko, so ayun, medj life changing on my end whahahahaha - he doesn't grade class parti but he does take attendance. Though, he does appreciate any and all reactions. I'm that student who reacts with their face and he calls me out sometimes in a way that he liked???? if that makes sense. anyways. yeah. all in all, i'd take him again hehmore

Hi! Took him during the first sem and he’s a great prof for those experiencing senioritis! PROS: - very light workload. we had 2 reflection papers, 1 group presentation (analyzing the discernment process of one fictional character), and 1 individual video presentation (this final output is a note to your future self lang and you have to read it on video) - He grades generously as long as you incorporate the things he discusses in your paper. I would say A/B+ able with minimal effort. - I almost didn’t read for his class 😭 He doesn’t make us recite naman and he said early on that he wanted the class to be chill. - AND, He discusses the readings in-depth during our lectures so if you opt not to read, I suggest you take notes so you can incorporate important points in your outputs later on. - I really appreciated that at one point, he divided us in groups and met with us just to check in how our senior year has been like so far. Gives great advice during lectures too and he’s makwento! CON: - He didn’t give us our grades (or any feedback) throughout the sem, which made me a bit worried. But, he gave us a breakdown of our grades a few days before the release of grades. Thankfully, he grades generously naman.more

Hello! I took him for 2nd sem and in terms of workload it was quite light (2 reflection papers, 2 LTs but its more like a quiz and a final proj). There were lengthy readings but if you can manage them easily then it would be of no problem. My biggest advice would be to incorporate the readings into your works (quizzes, reflection papers, etc) the best you can since a big part of how he grades is on how you are able to not just understand but apply said readings. In terms of teaching style he is chill and approachable. In class, he does lectures about the readings but they are more of summaries imo. In addition, he is quite transparent on the timeline of assesments and takes into account the concerns of his students if an issue ever arises. I really enjoyed this class under his guidance (also made me deeply reflect on some things in my life but that might just be me lol) A/B+ with effort. Also don't forget to bring blue books!!!more

i actually didn’t enjoy him that much 🥲 i found his lec to be really monotone and often times hard to follow. i ended the sem with a B, but i feel like i didn’t learn anything. i mean i did a lot of self-studying for the orals but still 😅more

he was such a good prof. my fav philo so far is philo 12 (religion) because he taught the concepts well and he was able to connect different topics with each other. he has orals for midterms and finals + onsite essay quizzes but they're not hard at all and he usually gives you thesis statements so you have an idea what you will be talking/writing about. i got high grades cuz i enjoyed studying his lessons since they were pretty easy but also insightful. i recommend sir roy if you want a chill class but still want to learn something if ur taking him onsite i suggest u take down notes because he might not send you his ppt (but his ppt isn't that helpful because most of the important details are spoken. so u really have to listen in class)more
