hi dont ubaldo if u predict ur load to be heavier, he wont make it bearable 🙏 in fact his sub was heavier than most of my majors combined haha so if ur feeling brave, sure… i can attest with the looping filipino jingle during the final test, difficult esp since the questions were all essay type HAHAHA and he doesnt account for delays in his sched so during finals week we had like three reqs from him sunodsunod … u wont fail, ppl are right w the B-B+ with effort but it is so not worth it w the workload and amount of material u have to absorb for his reqs 😇more

really difficult 😔 he gets his questions from his discussions, slides, canvas modules, and long readings. there are times where we dont even know where he got the answer from haha. iirc our first quiz was more on analyzing primary sources, so more on analysis and less on objective items. but for the next quizzes there’ll be objective questionsmore

Anonymous member goodluck! i just realized my comment might have scared u ahshha so i also want to share that i had low scores on my quizzes too but ended up getting a B+ because i worked hard on our final requirement (a group paper). so for the ppl taking ubaldo, invest in your final paper and long exams bc it can pull ur grades up. the final paper topic is also given halfway the sem so literally start asap and dont cram itmore

not sure if he changed his approach, but we had modified true or false where you had to memorize small details like the dates, place, name of the person, etc. for the essay part, it was difficult because some of the questions weren’t discussed in class but can be found in his long readings that feels impossible to read all of them 😭 so make sure to memorize the details, review your notes from his discussion, and the most effective tip that allowed my classmates to pass his test is to ask the other section what was the content of the exam, so itd be better if u knew someone from the other class 😔more

Anonymous member 618 i dont think so.. he also told us before that if we fail his class, just take it the next sem 😭 to look on the brighter side, i was able to pull my grades up with the group final paper (to be published in a website). so if ever youll get a low score on your tests, just work hard on your paper and start as early as u canmore

Gealogo. Ngl for me it was the lightest workload that I had. Once a week lang kayo magkikita since the other day will be used to finish the db assigned on that day. Every week may discussion board due anf I recall us having like 12-14 db's but only 2 of those were required. For the major stuff, we had 3 presentations but we only had 1 presentation that we had to present. The other 2 became final reqs and were just submitted online. Pero he's a bit tiring lang like mawawalan ka ng gana to attend his class although I attend it cuz mabait naman si sir and I magaling naman siya. Pero workload wise wala siyang exams quizzes puro db's and presentations lang. So yea gealogo is good if you want a bit chill. This is coming from someone who NEVER read any of the materials. I feel bad abt it but at the same time you do watchu gotta do pero damn.more

vouch for sir ubaldo! i enjoyed his classes and i love his humor HAHAHA but yeah heavy workload but kinda fulfilling after u finished. he also does not call people to recite pero i think it's because we were his last class of the day so maybe he just want to get it over with HAHAHSH the readings are interesting but if you don't have the time esp during midterms or finals, my tip for is to find a summary online. i got a B+ in his class even tho most of my quiz scores sucked but bawi sa final term paper!more

go for gealogo.i agree with the others that it is relatively light workload since you'll be meeting once a week lang. he is not as strict with filipino during indiv presentations as people make it out to be, so long as you try and did your research. this is at least based from what i have observed from my classmates (not all spoke straight filipino), but its best that you still try to. he also gets to know you more if you speak with him after class. you get to learn more from him also when you do so. he does not like grade conscious people though so its best you dont ask about grades. gives bonuses also worth 10 points each (from activities like talks or plays) so look forward to those too if you choose him. kung masipag ka mag-db weekly and mag-research for your indiv tasks (presentations), then go for him. imo, he grades okay naman but don't expect an A. he is an B+ at most.i personally liked doc g's class since he trains his students to apply the topics presented sa dbs individually so you get to deploy your own thinking when researching on your assigned topics for your presentation.more

If you end up with Ubaldo, you will trade your life and your grade for life lessons. Pros: - most passionate teacher in the entire university - very organized - will trash talk the people of the past and the present - life lessons applicable in multiple disciplines until today - curves towards end of sem Cons: - a lot of long readings per session (2-3 readings with at least 40 pages each), and you need the readings to participate in the class - confusing quizzes - only one correct interpretation - grades low especially at the start He says C-C+ is the class average, but I think B-B+ is attainable with effort, and A is possible if you sell your soul.more

Pray that you won't get a nosebleed, I had him for last sem 😭. Prof. Ubaldo is known for hard tests, with out-of-this-world questions that you are not even sure where he pulled them out of (super minor points he had mentioned in the lecture or readings). He has a lot of materials that you need to know: readings, lectures, dates, and people that you need to memorize and know. Even if you do get the answer right, he is extremely, and I really mean extremely picky about the writing style (will grade you lower if he does not like it). If I remember right, he prefers a straight-to-the-point writing style; no long answers with lots of words, but precise and easy-to-understand, with the points already given (feel free to correct me on this). My tip, as a passer (who cried last sem bc of out-of-pocket questions) of his class, is to do a mind map with ALL the names of the people (even if they are super minor he might bring them up), what they are associated with (events and what they are known for, and even career), groups and what their purpose is, and dates (don't forget the dates and people and the event that occurred in them!). I suggest asking a friend to quiz you, explain how certain events happen, and when (as there is a writing portion). Then, you can create flashcards, shortcuts, and quiz yourself even more — honestly, it is the only way to be sure you are going to get a high score and pass. For long readings (especially the 50-70 pages) make use of notebooklm to summarize key points (date, people, places, why and what happened and who is connected to who) to make it less stressful especially if you have a heavy semester and requirements to do.more

Anonymous member 209 it’s a good balance between all imo! there were parts of his exam where it was reading specific. there were essay questions where he asks you to reference specific readings in each question. but there were also questions that came directly from the slides (like names & events)! the canvas modules were good supplementary materials tho because he sometimes goes more into depth there compared to his slides. i remembered a lot of multiple choice but the hardest were the modified true or false questions… try to remember specific names, dates, events, etc. because he asks those. i remember one question being like who ran for vice president along side someone 😭 and he always includes an essay in his exam from what i remembered so be ready for that bc he does kinda grade low there (at least in my experience)more

you will learn a lot from ubaldo but every session is info heavy because every module of his has 3-5 readings with 20-70 pages 😩 he would ask questions in class and sometimes call on students, but i still wouldnt read all the readings lmao its impossible n sometimes i just say idk the answer if i get called lol its fine the recit is not graded i believe. his quizzes are hard thooo rip, so yes taking ubaldo’s class will give you a heavier work. but i think there are both pros and cons for both profs depending on your preference gealogo: lighter workload and easy B+ but lessons might not be memorable ubaldo: heavy heavy workload and hard B+ but you learn a lotmore

If you’re going for an easy pass (not A because… impossible I think), then go for Gealogo! Lightest workload ever: 15 DBs, but only 2 are graded randomly; 3 presentations, 1 onsite, 2 passed online only (I did not present onsite and passed my presentation really late but still passed his class). Though it’s hard to learn much from his class because after the first few classes, Doc G. will make the class teach basically— I also cannot remember anything from his class because of that. He’s a super chill prof though, so if you want a subject that will give you a break, then go for him.more

took gealogo for histo 12 last sem and it’s honestly my most chill class, i don’t think anyone got an A but it’s an easy B-B+ - no quizzes, just DBs (you have to answer all, but only 2 are graded), then 3 presentations (1 to be presented in class, then the rest are all online submissions) - he does give plus points for optional activities like attending a specific play (o pag-ibig na makapangyarihan in upd) - it’s just difficult to know your grade because you won’t know until the last minute pero it’s B or B+ naman as long as you do your workmore

as an ubaldo survivor, ull live to see another day! he had a lot of readings but easy to digest naman and workload is pretty manageable! just make sure to recite when u can alr para he wont call u again 😆 downside is he grades low hehe got a B with moderate effortmore

Had Gealogo for Histo 11, easy B-B+, afaik no one got an A. Just make sure to recite alot and show that you’re engaged with the discussions. (I think its how I got my B+), we only have 4 outputs, all of which were presentations. 2 of the presentations you just had to pass the ppt and not even present mismo nga eh. Though medj mataas hila kasi 150pts I think per output (but this is Histo 11) Overall I’d say he’s okay naman, super chill. Tbh dont remember much from the topics he tackledmore
