hi! took miss yap this sem for math 30.14 and i really think she is one of the best calc profs u can get :)) she explains all the modules really well and imo as long as you pay attention to her discussions, you can really excel in her class. she's also really lenient with grading, and often gives partial points even if you make some mistakes in your solutions. she doesn't curve, but as long as you listen in class, you won't need it. she's also very patient, especially if you have questions and have difficulty solving some problems. for her reqs, she has short quizzes (usually like 10 points) aside from the LTs, midterm, and final, which gives you an opportunity to pull your grades up. overall, i'd really recommend her, 10/10!more

Had Ma’am Yap for 31.1! She teaches very well with good progression, responds to our questions well also which is essential for a calc prof because you should be practicing with harder problems in the book than those which are discussed to prepare for the LT! We had 5 quizzes so the workload is manageable. We also had 3 homework (by pair) but it’s just one problem each that is not usually discussed in class (tho some are!) which is just 4% of the grade, it’s more on to prepare everyone for the quiz and LT (you can see other problem assigned to other pairs, then she grades it and says if it has mistakes so you can use them for review) She gives an A but I think class average is a C+.more

There are reviews for Yap already, just look for them. Overall, she’s a very structured prof. After discussion, she uploads slides which you can review. Contrary to a comment, while her examples in class are similar to quizzes, the exam can be harder. But the concepts were still taught by her, they just get twisted (the good point here is they didn’t appear out of nowhere, it just tests if you understood the lesson correctly).more

Kindest 31.1 prof, but LTs hit harder

hi!! currently taking her class :) she’s the kindest prof you’ll ever get for 31.1 😄 gives short quizzes and assignments to boost your grade up only downside is you may struggle in the LT because the items she discusses in class are way easier. so always study and answer exercises from the book don’t really know yet if she’s A-able but any theoretical calc should be done with effort. good luck! 🍀more

you're in good hands! she teaches really well :)) i survived math 30.13 and .14 in one sem because of her. she grades fairly and doesn't curve; and is open to consultations if you're having a difficult time. workload is reasonable, best bet is to attend class and take down notes during her sessions cos she really makes sure that every step is explained and understood by the class.more

Sweet but tests are hard, no curve

shes super nice but her tests are harder than other profs imo! much longer, but you have a higher chance to get more points obvi. she wasn’t lenient with the grading for my class LOLL but shes super sweet!! really helpful and kind. i js think study hard and you will get the grade you deserve. she won’t curve or give you plus points 🤣more

i got her for math 30.13 and shes rlly nice and sweet. she doesnt curve tho, but always attend class take notes and also make use of the consultation because she'll really explain it in good detail especially if its a one on one consultation. her tests are rlly difficult tho, but she makes sure to provide everyone with the necessary notes and she'll move the exam if she knows the class isnt ready yet. hope this helps!more
