Hi! I took SEAS103i under Doc Batangan for first semester (AY 2025-2026) Lecture Style: Personally, I find his lectures a bit boring and not very engaging. There aren't much opportunities to recite during lectures as he just goes through his slides (Which he uploads onto Canvas) Sir will often invite speakers for a seminar which you will most likely have a quiz on later. A lot of these seminars are held online, which sir will upload the recording for. Workload: Workload for his class is moderate to light. Majority of it is group works for your policy proposal— your group will be working on it in stages w/ multiple submissions throughout the semester. A lot of these assessments are heavily based on research on a particular health issue, so just do good research. There will also be a proposal defense at the end with Maam Leslie and Maam Jesse as panelists. What he asks for isn't too difficult, but it may depend on the group. So get good group mates. There will be a few quizzes (5 items, sometimes with bonus Qs) and two long tests (50 pts. w/ an essay portion) His tests/quizzes are more objective based. Grading: Sir doesn't give grades back on group assessments. Which is important because you will need those to revise your policy proposal thruout the semester. Best to personally approach sir and ask for consultation if you think your group needs it. My group didnt consult at all, but we got pretty good grades for everything, but no perfect scores. Recit doesnt really matter and the bulk of your grade will be from the assessments and long tests. TLDR: He is B+ able with light effort. Just get good group mates.more

sir dennis is a pretty chill prof, quizzes are few and manageable as long as you listened to the lec (sometimes even if you didnt listen), read the reqd readings for the LT and you're okay. majority of his assessments are group reports and group discussions, just show effort in those reqs and you're all goods. However, you might get lost mid sem because his lectures trail off the readings, like i remember him dedicating a session only to his martial law experience. He also includes talks from other experts in the exam so best listen to them too. overall though, he seems pretty chill. Personally, A/B+ with moderate-high effort (because he has a few assessments like 2 LTs and the rest group-based so a mistake would really affect the percentage)more
