review for 1st sem (2023) - b+ with effort a if econ god - i found sir sescon's class quite enjoyable! yeah the class was pure lecture and it did get a bit boring, but you'll eventually get used to it and would be fascinated din with sir's knowledge on the subject matter (the man knows his stuff ) - we had 3-4 main course readings (textbooks). he shared his slides for each lecture and focused our discussions on china, imt, and ph (mindanao). all the concepts discussed in class were so easy to grasp coz of how sir organized and structured our modules. - we had 6 essays, 3 group dbs, 1 optional reflection paper, and 1 group final paper (expect strict grading; provide concise answers, explain the concepts before discussing other things, and always refer to the class material) - very open to extending deadlines, provided the entire class agrees!! - takes attendance at the beginning of class but he doesn't mind if you're late so just approach him after class! - responds to messages/emails within the day - overall he's a good and thoughtful prof HAHAHAHA workload looks a bit crazy but they're evenly distributed throughout the sem naman so if you don't mind writing papers and working on dbs, get him!!more

So we took him for SocSci13 for 1st sem and I beadled for him. Let me tell you know y’all. He’s the hardest A I’ve ever gotten. Legit, ang boring ng lectures niya I had to pretend to nod and laugh kung may joke siyang hindi ko gets para lang hindi siya tatampo. Tangina ang bigat ng readings, our first 4 essays had a minimum 100 pages for our req reading. But, sir is SUPER nice. Like SUPER nice. Nakakagulat because he might appear as a terror prof pero hindi. He gave us bonus reqs para makahabol and is very lenient sa deadlines basta just ask. He’s sweet talaga, he’s very considerate and concerned sa students niya. He just has high standards sa essays niya. But he listens in on student concerns and is always willing to adjust basta kaya ng syllabus and the timeline. But holy shit, his readings gave me an aneurysm. BUT heres the thing, if you read the readings for the first 4 essays, the last 3 essays will be easy kasi nabasa mo na lahat.more

Boring class, but a wizard at grading if you follow tips

Study the book well. Pay attention in his class and remember his examples. And yes, he is boring so the effort you must muster is the effort to stay awake in his class. He uses his examples in his exams. He's a wizard in grading tho. He starts the sem with a no cancellable exam rule. However, If your class's standing is below average in the first LT, he starts implementing a cancellable exam. Afterwards, if your class's standing will still be below average, he would give a retake exam in the succeeding exams. Also answer the problem sets he gives you. They're really helpful. The last thing is, he recycles the problems he gives in his LTs for the final exam. As in same exact questions, same variables, etc. Follow these tips and you will most likely be excempted. :))more

Had two friends na Dumalus and they said na she's really boring and just reads out stuff during lectures, so won't learn that much substantially. Not sure if it applies to intersession but she gives out take-home long tests.more

i had him for socsci/econ- he’s super nice pero boring sa class i think we can all agree- he grades neutrally fair but more so high if you make sense and have a solid supporting argument and evidences for your answers- we only had papers and never onsite stuff (puro lectures)- he doesnt rly expect a lot i guess need mo lang talaga maexplain concepts na sinusulat mo with what he gave sa mga lecture slides para safemore

Oks lang. The lectures you can probably get away with not listening as long as you read the readings because he teaches exactly how the book does.

hello! had him for 112 :> he’s nice and considerate naman esp sa deadlines pero the reqs are pretty heavy and taxing talaga. his standards are pretty high din so siguro b / b+ with effort and a-able if you’re an econ god but guaranteed na you will rly learn a lot because of all the papers 👽more

I don’t think he curved for our class HAHAHA but it depends on how everyone is doing overall. But he’s really nice imo?? I failed the midterms and i went to him and asked what to do because i was aiming for a certain QPI. And he gave like 5 bonus papers HAHAHAHAH i think if u tell him abt ur situation etc he’s rly considerate??
