Quizzes easy, LTs will break your heart

I had maam bautista 2 semesters ago. here’s a (super) detailed review: REQUIREMENTS: - 4 short quizzes; mostly mulcho, otherwise expect short answer essay, computation, or graphing. score high here palang since all of them were easy - group presentation = choose a good/service and make a market analysis out of it. it’s basically based on what you have learned so far in class. ex: potential market failure, factors that affect supply and demand, etc. she grades fairly high. (tip: add a “pakulo” to ur presentation like have a good hook or do a demo or smth and maam will really comment on it positively!) - economic newsletter = attend a webinar and make a recap about it (tip: follow her guidelines on the dot) - discussion boards on canvas - LTs = will break your heart hahaha. 1 item is worth 2pts. I had a smart classmate who had 8 items wrong (which isn’t bad) but it’s -16 na on paper 🥲. exam on macro is way easier than micro. pro-tip: watch and read all her supplementary materials (marginal revolution university, you have my heart), answer the practice quizzes on canvas (not graded), and most importantly, learn the concepts intuitively, wag puro memorization! TEACHING STYLE/OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS - very motherly!!! adds contemporary issues in her lectures - soft-spoken (why some people think the class is monotonous) rip if ure seated at the back. i think this was the reason my classmates spaced out during class hahaha (a universal experience) basta mahalin niyo lang talaga econ and i promise the class will get interesting - gives out ppt slides kaya dont copy everything from it. copy what she writes/draws in the blackboard kasi sometimes it’s not in the ppt (esp what each part/point of the graph represents)+ her ppt slides are precise, note what she discusses per bullet point - she calls randomly for recit pero mga 3-5 times lang per class - ang bilis magbalik ng graded works. she also calibrates canvas according to her grading system, so alam niyo na agad yung final grade niyo - doesnt curve - you sit alphabetically. reverses it (z nasa harapan) after the 1st lt - U mark ur attendance thru an attendance sheet. not strict if ure late but monitors absences (will email pa the class abt this). wag mandaya sa sheet, she bases the recit on it. one time, may nagpasulat ng name sa sheet even tho they weren’t there, eh natawag sa class, soooo…hahha overall: A-able, magsipag lang sa supplementary materials…it’s freely given! it really helped me understand economics logically (and i became less reliant on memorization) vouch for B-B+ with moderate effort. accumulate points through quizzes and presentation kasi the LTs…🧎♀️ side note: maam bautista is very understanding and approachable. she knew all of us were bound to miss one of her class due to nstp, so she deliberately scheduled all our quizzes during tuesdays, not fridays. loved maam, hope you will, too!more

copy pasting my old review! i liked her a lot despite her requirements being a bit difficult to study for 😣 she was very nice and motherly, and she grades high as long as you do the reqs on time and you understand what she's asking for in the quizzes. she had 4 quizzes and she cancelled the lowest one. she also had a group news report, an individual reflection paper, and the nstp integrated midterm and finals paper. she's very accommodating with moving deadlines and considerate to the class 🥹 overall the most difficult thing in this class were her quizzes because she gives a lot of long readings and as a non-econ student i didn't understand several of the equations and graphs she would show us in class. since there are a lot of terms and details, i also found it difficult to remember all of them. her quizzes are mostly short-answer objective and essay based and if you read the readings and presentations you should be (mostly) fine. her synch classes are kind of boring lang and super info overload but i found it helpful to ask her questions during them because the topics were hard for me to understand 😅 overall i think she's a-able just be sure to study well for her quizzes!more

copy pasting my answer frm another post hi! currently taking one of maam bautista’s class rn and shes actu rlly nice and gives off lola vibes. id say she grades fairly but this is bc most of the assessments she graded are quizzes. i dont think she teaches well tho :(( most of the time she’d just yap and goes off topic. i had a hard time following and listening during her class. but she posts her ppts and pages sa canvas so id suggest u focus on studying that instead (go watch the videos rin bc that will help u understand the graphs more) shes rly rly rly rly nice 🥹 i actu like her but not when shes teaching lang.more

econ 110 is principles so most likely ud be focusing on theories and less math. i was under dr. bautista for microecon (econ 111) and we survived the math/graphs there so if math is ur concern for 110 ull be fine, bc theres less! as for the prof, shes motherly and shes nice, afaik she does recitations by index cards but its not very often. she tries her best to teach but honestly its hard listening to her bc of her teaching style. but still take her, i think econ 110 w her will be easier than econ 111 :))more

Hi! I took her class in 3rd year 1st sem. She's B+/A-able with a little effort!! Reqs-wise, I remember we only had 4 quizzes, and then the shared projects with NSTP. Multiple choice and essay. As long as you listen during class, study the ppts, read the important readings and memorize some concepts then u'll be guuud :]] she's mother vibes and she really appreciates it when you ask questionsmore
