He's the epitome of boredom for me. Yes, he knows his stuff but that doesn't translate well in teaching. He also has the tendency to talk shit about La Salle (dasurv HAHA) and he is really really trying to joke sometimes pero di namin nagegets huhu
try to "pretend listen" kasi I was called out multiple times last sem since I wasn't listening (sori). If u were called out tho, pretend you don't understand the question as he tends to forget them naman. If u think u know the answer to his question, then answer at your own risk. don't sit at the back like I did since he really loves calling out people there. I knew someone watching youtube vids in front of him but was never asked for anything hmf. try to be bibo din in recitation since he seems to appreciate that.
the test is quite hard especially if you don't understand the concept. the trick here is to try answering tests in quizlet. nobody in our class got a 40+ score out of 50 but he does curve naman which is why I got the B+ (got 34, 38, and unknown finals score). if u don't want to take the final exam, make sure u score at least 37 for both midterms and prefinals.
overall, saks lang. this is for ECON 111 but I think he won't change much naman for econ 121more

Like everyone else who has commented on one of these, I AGREE! Dr. Lanzona is a terrible prof who brain rots undergraduates faster than doomscrolling.
Grading: HOTTEST TAKE OF THE YEAR—he’s not bad! I took him for both 115 and 116 and he was really generous with partial points. If you look like you know what you’re doing he probably grades higher. Could be based on how much you look like you listen in his class, or how much you don’t annoy him, but I’d say it’s an easy B, and A-able with decent effort.
Exams: Vague. Unspecific. Terrible. Does nothing to actually test students.
Lectures: NET ZERO INFORMATION GAINED! COULD STUDY UMA MUSUME AND LEARN MORE ABOUT MATH! BRAINCELLS, LOST! READING COMPREHENSION, STOLEN! HOTEL, TRIVAGO! Dr. Lanzona lectures with zero sense of direction or intent, regurgitating information that is usually wrong
Educational Value: If there was a prize on how to teach math wrong, Dr. Lanzona would be the most awarded professor in the econ. dept. Does nothing to stimulate actual learning or interest, ensuring that the next generation of Filipino economists hate their jobsmore

Hello! I had Dr. Lanzona for both ECON 111 (micro) and 121 (dev) but not 116 so Im not sure how he will format his quizzes for a quantitative course but heres my exp w him:
For both ECON 111 and 121 he has multiple choice questions which are honestly challenging because they rlly entail u to apply the theories. But u can get around with it by rlly studying the book. He usually just gets the questions from the book so if the book has some sample questions its worth trying to answer those
For 121 we had an essay component for the tests, and Id say the questions r again challenging because they test ur knowledge of the theories. Instead of asking what a certain theory is, the qs ask you about why it works or what will happen if this variable is gone or what are its caveats. Again studying the book helps! But in addition, inputting whatever he says in class as the explanation to the concept earns u big points
Idk if this will be the case for 116 also cos its stat, but in case the quiz is formatted in multiple choice and essay thats how he does it! Study the book thoroughly please because thats where he bases most of his questions and the “answers”more

yeah he does, but please taper your expectations because its likely at most one grade up (ex. from B to B+) at most.
also i know i’m gonna get this but curving isn’t that no one is gonna fail. he curves and rounds up (he explicitly said that he does round up edge cases, although did not say to what degree)more

I’m currently taking Econ 115 and honestly, it’s absolutely the worst. The prof gives exam questions that were never discussed in class, as if he expects something unrealistic from us. There were online quizzes, but four out of the six quizzes were completely wrong, which made things even worse.
If you want to pass, you really have to study every single day. He clearly doesn’t want to give anyone an A or even a B+. Instead of going over example problems, he focuses almost entirely on theorems and expects us to fully understand themmore
