omg hi 🤣 i took him last sem (onsite). He’s a chill and tropa prof (on the younger side), he even libres the class starbucks 🥰. He gives a lot of examples and situationers in between his lectures, and he also connects his lectures to his real life experience as a lawyer. With these examples and situationers tho, he does call on random ppl to answer every class. They’re not graded, but they’re kinda pressuring esp if u dk the answer. He’s rly nice during these recits tho and doesn’t expect perfect or correct answers (at least for us since we’re not law-related majors). We didn’t have much reqs last sem, we only had: - easy dbs that as long as u answer, u get points na for participation i think - one session where it was graded recit for cases that were given weeks before but randomized on the day itself - 1 group position paper (groups were randomized) - online midterm and final essay type long tests (but expect it to be onsite this time bc he was rly planning on having it onsite for us but he forgot to put it sa syllab) In terms of grading, I would say that he grades fairly and really relies on the correctness of ur answer + correctness of the legal basis. His long tests were kinda hard IMO bc they’re essay type answers to situationers, and the situationers are kinda tricky (i think it’ll be easier for u tho since ure LM xd). I would say tho he rly helps us to get a higher grade in his class, like for example, since most of us got low in the midterms, he made our finals easier. He gives bonus questions in his tests and gives opportunities in class to get plus points (like during our reviews before tests, the top 3 ppl in kahoot get bonus points or smth) 🤣. He also curves 🤞🏽. He’s not rly an easy A esp for non-law majors like me, but he’s a B/B+ able prof (with curve na). Even tho hes not easy A, I had fun in his class bc hes rly so tropa and nice, and you can tell that he doesn’t want his students to get so low in his class so he’s gonna give avenues to redeem urself. Im not sure how different he will be for LM majors, but do expect that he might expect more from u guys since I’d say he was more chill w my class since we are not law-related majors 😭. he's one of the best law profs around! Millenial tropa prof na pwede mong makakwentuhan + very competent. Activities include: -Scheduled Recitation. You only recite once in this sem, so make it count! every module (IIRC modules 2, 4, 5, and 6) he releases 12-10 cases and then the class takes dibs on it. 4 is the highest score you can get. Do well kasi this contributes to your grade! Tip is to make a case digest of the case and follow the Facts, Issue, Decision, and discussion format -Voluntary Recitation. not really graded but he will call on you randomly to test if you read/ if you can apply the lesson to a certain hypothetical. no pressure though kasi if you can't answer, he'll guide you through it (and hindi siya nagbibigay ng terror prof vibes) -Discussion boards. Straight forward, but don't forget to answer them as this also contributes to your standing -Midterms and Finals- big chunk of your grade -Final Group Project. You will be given certain scenarios by the prof in which you have to draft a position paper. Pros: - He knows his stuff frfr. The class is interactive and I don't think na aantukin ka or matatakot like other (possible) terror law profs - He genuinely cares for the class. Sometimes he takes his time na makipagkwentuhan (i.e. he will give advice for those wanting to go to law school, any topic under the sun really), and sometimes he just buys pizza for the class -He doesn't outright treat the class as a "law class" -Politically aware; one time, he spent some time in our lecture to discuss what will happen if ChaCha happens, the repercussions of martial law, and even other chika xD -he holds review sessions every before midterms and finals!! he provides a lot of sample questions and even holds Kahoot sessions. -vv considerate and mabait. Possible cons - speaks very fast. - info overload. once you missed what he said medyo mahirap to get back into the flow -he doesn't give out his PPTs but honestly no need naman since it's all in the canvas modules + you can take pictures while he's discussing. good luck and i hope you enjoy his class!more
