Hello! I was her beadle for our class! She's a new prof and she has other responsibilities on the side (she works in a Mol Bio Lab) REQS/TEST-WISE • We had 10 Individual Lab Exercises/Worksheets, 2 encompassing Lab Reports (they use multiple worksheets as reference), 2 Journal Clubs/Discussions (you read a paper and discuss its methodology), a Written Midterm and Final Exam, a Final Oral Exam, and a Lab Notebook (with all your notes) • Most of your requirements are by group (it goes without saying but get good groupmates; shoutout to 4S1B!) Also, our journal club was originally individual but we asked if it could be by group to save time. All in all, these seem a lot but in reality they're super manageable! • Why manageable?: Aside from most requirements being by group, our worksheets were due a week after each experiment so you have a fair amount of time to complete them. The worksheets themselves are focused on data interpretation and the rationale for experiment components. Our lab reports are pretty comprehensive but we were given ample time for this as well! Take note that Ma'am has fairly high standards when checking so make sure that you're thorough! (as in, you can get deductions for not having a specific reference) • Flexible: Ma'am really takes into consideration what her students are going through and if you really need extensions for deadlines (especially for lab reports), it's likely that she'll consider it! (Don't abuse this though because sometimes she gets apprehensive as well!) •Active: She usually returns annotated worksheets and other outputs within a week but there will be slow weeks! If you really need the feedback, feel free to ask for a follow up via your beadle so they can message her during work hours! • Challenging Exams: Her written exams are very practical/application-based! You need to be able to know how to apply certain concepts given certain situations. Don't discount the objective part though! Study well! ATTITUDE • Friendly and approachable: While she might be grading you passively on lab performance and your ability to explain some things, you can still approach her to ask questions about anything! She can also chat a lot when waiting for some experiments to finish (e.g. AGE) • Fair and grounded: She's very fair around her students and takes the time to get to know some of them (especially the ones who approach her often). Don't abuse her kindness and openness though! TEACHING STYLE • Since it's a lab class, expect to be doing an experiment essentially all the time! She's quite hands-on and she'll roam around class • She tries her best not to spoonfeed lessons and concepts but she still has a tendency to read from her slides and then explain. Listen well because sometimes she'll discuss something that pops up in your worksheets or tests! • I'm not gonna lie, there will be times where it will seem like you're repeating the same thing over and over but it's really just how it is! In the end, you'll be surprised at how much you learned and carried over 💖 TL;DR! Take her! She's definitely A-able with a decent amount of effort! + it will seem like you will gain a friend after the sem ✨ I would 100% take her again!more

i'm not sure but this might be one of her few lec classes. she usually teaches lab so her lab lectures were pre-recorded and given to us via canvas. tbh she's a good teacher and she's organized, i loved her a lot but in her pre-recorded lectures she speaks kinda slow HAHAHAHAHAHA i think maam halcon is very shy which is not bad but i think that's why the other person found her boring. she works at arise so i recommend her as a lab prof because she knows what she's doing and she knows what to teach. for lec i'm not sure but i learned and retained concepts from her class and it was helpful for molecular work during thesis:)more

Get her if you can! Ma’am Hanna is a new prof but she is one of the nicest profs out there! Workload was manageable with worksheets for all lab exercises (around 10 worksheets worth 10 pts each), 2 lab reports, 2 journal discussions, 2 written exams, Lab Notebook, and final oral exams. She is lenient with deadlines as long as requests for extensions are reasonable. She appreciates her students and really gets to know them 🙂 A able with effort, do not take her exams for granted 😆 Get good groupmates as well!more

agree sm with!! i love her sm would def take her again despite d heavy workload WAHAHAHA learned a lot talaga and would recommend if u wanna get hands on but also guided experience with cell mol lab techniques as well as scientific journal writing!!more

Oh hell yeah she’s awesome! She’s extremely helpful and has loads of fun activities apart from the expies such as journal clubs. We had a final oral exam in which she’ll ask you a short but simple question about concepts and stuff. There will be bonus questions on the exams too. She’s also flexible and friendly, and she does graphic design as a hobby too! She also games IIRC~more

from a different subject (cell mol lab) shes a fun PERSON, and her exams were easy af... but she only reads from her powerpoint, no anything else so like shes sooo boring pero nakakatawa siya outside of the lecture 😭😭😭😭😭 i love her but i would not get her lec...more
