Hi! Taking up her class this intersession, so I'm not yet done with it. Pros: 1. there are barely any requirements to be done. So far, I've only had a midterm, a video, and a final exam. (However, there was supposed to be an essay - 500 words, and a group video/voice recording/podcast type). 2. you can negotiate the exams and deadlines, especially if her other classes are also asking for the same thing. For example: our midterm was supposed to be 2 hours long, and our class was the second of her classes taking the test. The previous class had asked for an extension and asked for a retake due to its difficulty, thus she allowed us to decide what we wanted to do. In our case, the 2 hour exam became 3 hours -- and when it wasn't enough, she made it take home. She also had special conditions such as, if there's no cheating during the exam, I'll remove a portion of the exam where you get a low grade in (thus increasing your score). 3. She doesn't want her students to retake her class and fail, so she's gonna try to keep bringing your grades up if its low (through bonus points, etc.) Cons: 1. Little amount of requirements/submissions = you won't be able to get your grade up easily if you get a low score. 2. She really values her boundaries when working and when out of work, so there may be times when she's unresponsive, especially if it is out of work hours. 3. There's a lot of readings: for our midterm, we had about 12 chapters of readings from the econ book, powerpoints per chapter (if its easier for you), and even video recordings of her discussing said chapters. It might be a con to go through all of it, but it's all to help you (and well, you can skip it). 4. She normally teaches post-grad econ, so her definition of "this is basic econ" might not be as basic as she thinks. Due to this, you might need to tell her, as a class, that the exam is too hard, or she's going too fast in her pacing for discussions, and etc. You have to let her know that it's too hard. TLDR: B+ able with minimal effort, A-able with effort [take with caution: her teaching style is one that I prefer, so if you have a different learning style, then might be better to explore other profs]. She doesn't want you to fail though so as long as u put in the effort, you probably will pass this class. edit post intersession: definitely B+ able with minimal effort, A with effort. Admittedly, she grades pretty high for most graded deadlines (for class participation, there were 2 deadlines — lowest was 8/10 for either task). Attendance/Cuts is included in the grade so better to not cut, class ends early anywaysmore

took her for econ 111 two sems ago… i think her class structure should relatively be the same but two sems ago she did one asynchronous day and one onsite day per week. she didnt lecture AT ALL. and simply relied on the prerecorded lectures uploaded to the drive and it would be 1hr to 1hr 30 mins long. it was information overload and she didnt really offer support to help you understand basic economic concepts lmfao sometimes it seems like she was js parroting the book. only 3 LTs and 2 of them were online and 1 was onsite. multiple choice for the online one but it was hard af lmfao. i honestly dont know what to say ab her class… shes sometimes passive aggressive too when you lodge complaints. if you want self study and minimal graded work i guess you can take her. but your learning is completely up to you. there are better econ 110 profs out there who can give you an easy A and honestly take them because its not like youre gonna learn anything with magante eithermore

everything from the previous comment plus a few things: - i love how everything is on canvas. ppts and the lecture videos, so you can easily go back to them to rewatch when you're reviewing. - she's really nice. approachable and easy to talk to, and you can ask her about the lesson if you don't understand it. is also considerate of students' situations (e.g. if you have exams, absent bc of emergencies) bc she made our class asynch so we could have time for early enlistment - she dismisses class early/starts class later so she doesn't take up all of the class time so students can have more time for self study or other requirements. overall, 9.5/10. i can't say easy A bc i haven't finished her class but i can say for sure i learned a lot even if all of these heavy lessons were crammed into intersession. she definitely won't fail you, so get her if you want a nice prof who knows her stuff and is vv accommodating to students. (get her though she's the best !!)more

Hello! Had her for a different Econ class (econ 110 if i recall); she’s pretty chill and teaches well. She provides online recordings to her lectures as well. As for grading, she’s pretty straightforward when it comes to grading and you can contest some items for extra points. I’m not sure about reqs since it’s a different class but for us, she accepted a lot of the changes for deadlines and adjusted to us. Our class also told her we were tired and didn’t sleep properly so she extended our deadline. One of our exams was submitted online (as we requested).more

took her in first sem during SY2425! here's what i remember from her class: - everything is in canvas! easy navigation for all material - her lecture vids are vv detailed but make sure u read the book as well - very approachable and considerate! - we met like once a week since the other day would be asynch learning - only 3 exams and recit! her recit might be scary but she def leads you to the right answer - her exams for our class were online^^ some had 2 chances to take due to their length + tricky ang questions - she also had review games before an exam! this rly pulls ur grade up due to incentive points trust me overall, A with decent effort! shes hands on but dont expect a curve since everything is to the decimal point. take her!!more
