the course is split into a self help-esque first half where you evaluate your financial literacy using maams book and a group presentation second half where you talk about behavioral biases that seem more at home in a high school econ/socsci class.more

Anonymous member her LT’s usually have identification, modified true or false, and multiple choice. You’ll think that her tests would be easy but that won’t be the case when you’re taking the test na. She’s very meticulous when it comes to details, as in even yung mga part sa lesson na feeling mo hindi lalabas (like dates, percentage, ano kulay ng ganto) biglang nasa test. You’ll survive if you memorize everything (like literally everything). Hard B. It was my heaviest subject back in 1st year haha so yeah, prayers🙏more

run! she doesnt give out her ppts and when i took her i felt like i had long tests every week. workload is really heavy for lec and lab, even heavier than my major. if u have a choice, choose another one. got scammed last yr that she was chill and nice 😓more

She is a very pleasant teacher and she definitely knows what she’s teaching. In terms of assessments, we have quizzes every week and three long tests. You actually have to study for them especially since they are very memorization heavy. As much as possible, be very detailed when studying and understand the bigger picture of the concepts because it really helps. It’s not an analysis heavy class, mostly just rote memorization based. And if you get a grade of B before the departmental final exam, you’ll be exempted from it. Actually, it’s very kaya, just don’t take this subject for granted and you’re good. I got an A in her class for envi lec naman but I really did exert effort in studying. You got this!more

I LOVE MAAM ETHEL!! as long as ur outputs aint straight bs or bola, and you show that you understand the topic ur good edit: for the record, ive had maam ethel multiple times onsite, online, and also as our thesis coordinator. she's one of the best profs in the department 🙂more

pros: 1. miss is very considerate and approachable! she puts value in the work that you do, and is also flexible in the deadlines she gives. you can see her passion and experience when she’s doing a lecture in class 2. what she teaches in class are very realistic. she gives concrete examples, most of which are present in the ph 3. if there’s time, she holds asynch classes on the session before the long test to help students study. not all the time though 4. she’s willing to switch to online learning if there’s legit reasons like bad weather (if there’s no suspension) she usually holds a survey and tries to understand the situation of the majority of the class 5. i found the lab fieldwork rlly fun! we went to a nearby stream around cov courts and examined the water quality there. the lab report (research paper) for that was kinda heavy tho cons: 1. i’d say her quizzes were the most difficult ones i had encountered throughout my whole academic life. other subjects require you to just memorize stuff and you’re good to go. meanwhile, others require you to have a comprehensive understanding of the topic, with less focus on the technical terms. for envi sci, it’s both 🙂 2. there’s a CRAZY CRAZY amount of stuff you have to study. there’s 6 modules and every module has like around 3-10ish sections ++ other media and sources (documentaries, videos, research papers). there’s also the ppt, which has info that won’t be in the modules in canvas. for a long test, it’s usually 2 modules each, and we literally feel the dread when envi sci long test is approaching 💀 3. i have trauma every time i recall my test scores 😓 4. if you’re not fond of memorization, then envi sci isn’t for you. i remember having a flashcard set of 150 ish items and i still encountered stuff on the lt that i wasn’t able to review 🙂‍↕️ 5. the lab research paper is rlly draining. sometimes, it’s group work but there are times that it’s individual work too. she gives us a week to finish it though, so it could be a me problem HAHAHAmore

took her class during the first sem, and as a freshie HAHAHA i was not prepared - class discussions are chill and easy to follow but her assessments can be quite tricky - her quizzes were mostly identification, so you really need a good grasp of the terms and not just the concepts [you have to be super detailed bcs she can ask about the most specific things] - her long exams which included drawing a disposal system HAHAHA but we barely discussed it in class - she’s nice and approachable in class, so address your concerns during class time. she rarely replies to emails. - the departmental finals were honestly easier for me than her long testsmore

Had her during the first sem. If you have other options, please choose them instead. We had 6 quizzes in total, with 5 of them being pure identification about very specific topics per module. As for her long exams, if I can remember correctly, there were 20 identification problems, and a section where we had to draw a disposal system that she briefly mentioned. Her class had no reason to be heavier than my majors. She’s only good for lab since the requirements there are chill.more

hi! I had her for both the lec and lab classes ma’am is very nice and chill during class! the downside is that she doesn’t respond to emails. we emailed her multiple times and only got a reply a week before the class ended. as for the class itself, it’s also chill and very easy to follow, but we had a lot of quizzes (every single week), long tests, and group activities. she’s VERY detailed when it comes to quizzes and long tests. one time, she asked, “what’s the date today?” in one of the quizzes. I got it wrong because the answer had to include the month, day, and year 😅more
