i took him during first quarter this sem nd it was quite d experience hes new but by no means is he a bad teacher (he likes musical theatre so if ur into that come early to class so u can listen to instrumentals from musicals HAHAHA), he’s super passionate abt math nd he rlly wants u to learn. rlly nice modules (the handouts he’ll give will prep u for all his quizzes so just go thru them and practice a lot, though some of the pdfs are about 8 pages or longer so jus make sure ur in the right headspace to study math) and he’s super approachable in class ! always responds pretty quickly to any queries via email/canvas as well and is happy to help u if ur going thru material in the course that ur not sure how to attack (practice drills in the handouts or the weekly assignments) or if u think u have a good idea/postulate and wanna verify it. sorta by the book when he’s teaching but when someone asks a question while he’s discussing he’ll go over the question and try to answer it in simpler terms so it’s easier to digest. he also relates current modules to previous topics we’ve covered which is pretty nice. for workload, I’d say it’s pretty manageable. 1 disc board + 1 written assignment + 1 quiz every week, and as long as u study the modules and practice it won’t be too heavy (sometimes he’ll ask for an essay but this is the general sched every week). for quizzes, he’ll give a 4 hr time window on one day to give u time to finish reviewing and take the quiz in ur own time within those 4 hours. the time limit for the quiz itself is an hour, but u can finish it within 15-30 minutes (10 if uve mastered the topic/ur some math god or smth) if you’ve done ur hw and studied. he gave orals as well so just come prepared with ur ppt and review ur assigned module so u don’t take too long to answer his questions. he’s pretty strict on deadlines so make sure u work on ur papers and essays early and submit on time (basically “ok it’s 12AM my canvas page will not accept ur late submission” type of deal so jus be ready for that), but if u have internet problems, jus send proof of the problem and send the output along w it asap. as for grading, he’s pretty reasonable but be wary of mistakes u might make during solving (e.g. leaving out an equals sign, skipping certain steps, etc.) bc he can deduct a few points for that. if u feel like ur answer for certain portions is reasonable, tell him so he can give u the extra points. general rule of thumb is “can i argue the validity of my answer to him and show proof?” and if the answer is yes, go for it. another note: do NOT ask stupid questions (by this i mean u should focus on asking about what might be wrong in ur method of solving or ask abt what course of action he’d recommend if you’ve reached a certain roadblock in solving a problem, bc he will not spoon feed you with the answers to the questions. you’d be wasting time if u just tried to ask kung tama ba sagot mo, but if u ever do go that route, say, for a postulate u think is correct, just explain the reasoning behind it and ur good to go). i wouldnt say it’s an easy A bc it rlly isn’t HAHAHA esp if u struggle w proving, but practicing rlly does help. its not horribly difficult but he does challenge u esp in the weekly assignments so just make sure u study the modules and to ask questions whenever u feel lost (ofc u could ask classmates as well but I think he’d appreciate it if u asked him as well). overall, just submit disc board comments and other reqs on time, study as much as u can for the quizzes, and ask him questions whenever ur unsure of things. if u have concerns abt being able to catch up, he’s pretty prompt w uploading sync session recordings so just go over those (plus i personally think his handouts will suffice as long as u do the practice drills for each section and ask him questions). definitely A-able, u jus gotta work for it. sir pat master race HAHAHAHmore

hallo! Doc. Pat really is a kind and sweet prof. Pala-ngiti always and super chill, considering him being a Math professor. as for teaching style: - he comes prepared ALWAYS, laging may dalang markers and chalk + exercises - he sometimes prints out the exercises you guys will be working on + give them as additional work - admittedly though, as someone slow in understanding calculus, you'll need to pace yourself because he goes a bit fast in lectures (he'd write exercises on the board then instead of solving them one by one, he'd just give the answers agad then move on to more / new examples) - also, its okay to ask questions and let him know if he's going too fast! hindi ka niya ipapahiya promise HAHAHAHA he can redo questions and review concepts if needed talaga : ) - he allowed laptops and/or tablets for us but strictly no phones and picturing of the lessons grading-wise: - he says he gives partial points, but honestly...i don't feel he's that generous talaga (no half points and curving too :'() - apply the formulas and techniques he used in your lectures and you're good! - afaik, he makes his own quizzes and they are kinda tough so prepare yourself nalang but it's great because they help you prepare for the departmental tests na so much easier naman : > overall, B/B+ able (A with dedication, devotion, and maximum effort). be present lang lagi and he checks attendance through canvas (he has a custom seat plan for his classes). goodluck!more

CourseMATH 30.03

hi! had him for math 30.03, and all i can say is that he’s a very chill and nice prof. make sure to attend his ftf discussions and make the most out of them. don’t be shy to ask questions too cause he’s very approachable his teaching style is rlly detailed and continuous, so make sure to listen the whole time (no phones/laptops during class but ipads are okay) his tests are pretty manageable if you put in enough effort. just answer his practice exercises, listen during discussions, take note of his solutions, and you’ll be fine. (sometimes he gives us practice exercises after class which really help) he also doesn't curve. overall, for math 30.03, it was b-able with effortmore

I had Ma’am Ruth during the 2nd semester (23-24) In her lectures, Ma’am tends to read from her PowerPoint slides, and the pace can be a bit quick. Since we only met once a week, we usually had either a seatwork or a quiz during each meeting. On top of that, we worked on a research project and had to pitch on financial topics that we didn’t really cover in class. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you’ll get an A if you’re good at memorizing slidesmore

Had him for Q1 for Math 10 and it sobrang feeling major yung subject hahaha super dami and super bigat ng requirements; if i remember correctly, parang 1 discussion board, 1 paper, and 1 quiz per module tapos 1 prob set every other module (?) Tapos parang we had 3 final requirements in total: oral test, ~10 page paper, and presentation for the paper. Super hazy ng naaalala ko sa Math 10 but the only thing I can clearly remember is how much I wanted to drop from his class. He's a nice prof naman and his synchronous classes were very useful + he updated us regularly via telegram gc but the workload felt like a semestral workload instead of a quarterly one. more

He gives way too much requirements.. Almost had to drop his class.. He is also strict with grading. Multiple complains from the class on him pero he was able to take into action the classes concerns naman, as a beadle I never had this much complain about a teacher hehe You need a ton of motivation just to finish his class hehe. Goodluck. :-) Ohh and masyado confusing yung quizzes and problem sets hehemore

New prof but I've had experience being taught by him (not math though HAHA). Either way, really good and organised, systematic with teaching, can make you understand difficult concepts more easily. Never be afraid to ask questions or stuff you don't get!! He'll really help you try to understand :))more
