Take Pascua if you want an approachable lecturer described as skilled, A-able with effort, with a finite exam-plus-paper load and optional attendance. Recently took Sir Pascua’s class. Imo, he’s probably one of the best profs that my coursemates and I had. A-able with effort.
Pros:
- He’s currently a consultant at ADB and gets sent out by the econ department internationally for research. Naturally, he’s very skilled in the field and this reflects in lectures.
- Workload is doable. 2 exams for lecture, 2 exams for lab, and 1 final paper/presentation.
- Really good hands on guidance for final paper/presentation
- Very approachable
- Doesn’t check attendance but I recommend showing up anyway since you can learn a lot. Plus he likes it when students are passionate about econ.
- Can eat in class
- Finishes teaching most of the syllabus within half of the semester
- Very considerate with concerns of students. Extended time limit for one of our lab exams since most of us couldn’t finish

- Exams are either hard, or take extremely long to finish
- PPT has a few mistakes, best to ask someone who previously took the class to point out what those are
- Might be hard to reach out to him when he gets sent out on a business tripmore

Hello, I took him last semester! He's one of my favorite profs, even though his assessments can be challenging
PROS:
- Teaches REALLY well. Explains each concept thoroughly
- He will really guide you when you consult or ask questions
- Super nice and chill
- Curves
CONS:
- Rarely responds to messages. I believe I had to email him around thrice to get our major paper topic approved
- Does not return assessments. We did not get anything for this sem but just trust his grading system I guess 😭
- His assessments are INSANELY hard/lengthy
Not an easy A for sure, but his curve will ensure you don't fail or get a completely bad grade.
I'd recommend him for those who want to learn a lot about the subject thoughmore

He’s someone you would take to be able to learn a lot but have to exert a ton of effort to do so as well.
He was unclear at times with his announcements and posted one of our major reqs 2 days before the deadline but could be attributed to how busy he is.
Nonetheless, he really knows his craft with econometrics , and he was very approachable for consultations especially during the final paper as he was able to really guide my partner and I to work on our paper in the most effective way possible.
If you want to get an easy A then you probably don’t want to take his class but you can trust in his curve to not fail and still get a decent grademore

If I had to list a con, it would be na some lectures are unclear and he announces class schedule adjustments a little late (for example, he once said class is cancelled at 5:55am the day of). Additionally nearing the end, he didn’t follow through with some parts of the schedule But overall it’s alrightmore

hi!! i had him for econ 117 (econometrics), but he's one of my fav profs because he knows the material really well and teaches super well also!!
pros:
- super good at teaching
- provides detailed feedback
- patient and open to consultations
cons:
- assessments can be really difficult
- doesn't reply much to emails, might need to follow up a lot
