hi! had him for first year, first sem. you’re in good hands,! iirc, he graduated from UP. some of his rules: - he allows gadgets in class, so long as it’s for taking notes. - eating in class is allowed too! - late after he takes attendance, altho he often takes note at the start, he sometimes does it before class ends pros: - i would say he’s very good at teaching. he can simplify the most complex concepts in a clear and concise way. - idk but the way he speaks is so nice to hear 🙏🏻 - he’s very passionate abt envi sci! he’s also a member of AIS, and does some notable self-inserts/plugs to promote it as well as Ateneo Wild (for more trivia and info on the lessons) - when we had group presentations and activities, he asks a few questions but isn’t too strict! he helps other presenters too when they don’t understand what he’s asking or don’t know how to answer - on that note as well, he’s good at providing constructive criticism! he does the sandwich method wherein he provides positive feedback -> notes for improvement -> positive feedback again and recap - he is very approachable! replies promptly to students who reach out to him via Canvas, and is also punctual when making announcements there too - sir does 5-minute breaks in between modules and lessons discussed so as not to overload us! cons: - more on the course itself: it’s very content-heavy. sir ratilla does his best to cover everything before midterms and finals, but expect a lot of slides to see and take note of per session. - a somewhat disadvantage as well is you can’t always have the opportunity to ask questions kasi nga mabigat ung course content. so sir has to move on quickly to the next topic. i’d say when u can raise qs, make it count. - unfortunately, the 5-min break is not consistently implemented by sir. so sessions can become overwhelming. some other notes: - after every module, he always asks for insights and takeaways. - classes are often onsite. online classes will happen usually due to inclement weather or sched conflicts w sir ratilla. - he expects group presentations to be quick but concise. usually only 5-10 mins. he’s sometimes lenient w that, but not all the time. still good practice to follow that limit. i’d suggest to always take notes! as much as possible, save the cuts for when u really need them. sir’s very kind and somewhat lenient, but don’t be complacent in his class bc there’d be a lot to catch up on. overall, A-able with effort! course is heavy, but you’re in good hands. sir ratilla makes envi sci less intimidating, and not only survivable but also enjoyable. good luck,!more

[onsite SY2324 Sem 2] sir daniel is kind and very appreciative of questions!! passionate about the topics which was rlly memorable as his student. changed a lot of my perspectives and would love to take him again :)) lectures: can be info heavy, but gave lec notes in canvas which were very useful. js listening in class, then referring to these canvas notes after for assessments worked well for me workload: fair workload with good time management, a lot of activities (quizzes + non-LT major assessments) were by group so get trusted ones! siguro most time-consuming things were studying for LTs and quizzes (knowing technical terms) + final proj grading: consistently gives opportunities for bonus points! very A-able, ofc with consistent effort. overall one of my fav classes so far!!more

Hi! I took sir Ratilla's envi 10.01 class this 1st semester. His class is fun and you'll learn a lot from him. All of his modules are insightful and have a good layout. He uploads the modules and other materials on Canvas. He's a good professor; he cares about his students. He's very understanding, approachable, and responsive to questions. He also gives feedback agad! His activities, quizzes, and long tests are relatively easy. A-able with effort😸!more

Bonus items and puzzle twists on long tests

add ko lang regarding his long tests! - he always provides bonus qs per long test to help pull up your grade! - there are some puzzles and fun twists in his long tests, but he does this usually for the very last one.more
